Serena — 2017
A State of Serenity
In 2017, Firas Abou Hamdan presented Serena — a collection born from a deeply personal phase of inner calm and clarity. It was a time of serenity, and the collection became a visual extension of that peace.

“I felt like I was walking beside the ocean. Every emotion, every thought — it all moved like waves.”
Inspired by the feeling of gliding barefoot across warm sand, Firas designed Serena with movement, texture, and light in mind. The dresses carried the gentle ripples of ocean water and the shimmer of its surface at sunset.

Fine pleats (kaser), Swarovski crystals, beads (lulu), and delicate paillettes were embroidered into the fabrics — capturing the reflective sparkle of sunlit water. Each element shimmered subtly, never loud, but always present.

The color palette, though vibrant, remained soft — dominated by pastel tones and transparent overlays. The pieces were light, fluid, and almost airborne — floating as they walked, yet grounded in craftsmanship.

“Even though it was colored,” Firas explains, “everything was still transparent — like serenity you can wear. It was vibrant, but calm. Flying.”
Serena was not simply a collection — it was a mood, a feeling. It whispered rather than shouted, and in doing so, captured the grace of a designer fully in tune with his surroundings — and himself.
